Clostridium Botulinum is a naturally occurring protein that has been used for medical treatments for over 50 years. It has been licensed for use for anti-wrinkle treatment for the past 25 years and works by blocking the release of a neurotransmitter (acetylcholine) which plays an important role in muscle contraction. This will effectively weaken the muscle for a period of three to four months.
It remains the most common cosmetic procedure in the world and has the added benefit that it is a non-surgical procedure. It has very few known side effects which are generally minor and temporary. These are explained in further detail to all clients before any procedure.
Dermal fillers are made from Hyaluronic Acid (HA) a naturally occurring component in the body, with approximately 50% found in the skin. HA acts as a scaffold providing rigidity; hydration; turgor whilst allowing cellular movement and regeneration.
